Once we hit December, it’s officially “the holidays!” While some of these days are likely already on your radar, there are also a handful of other lesser-known holidays to get inspired by for some social media fun. Here are 8 holidays we’re loving when planning December social posts: 

December 1: Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a chance to give back however you can. We love the idea of hosting a fundraiser on your social feed. You might raise money for a cause related to your industry, a charity that’s near and dear to you personally, or a local nonprofit that will benefit your community. P.S. Instagram makes giving easy with their Donation sticker.

December 4: National Cookie Day
Get inspired by National Cookie Day to create a post that’s all about engagement. If you have a small team, you might invite followers to match the favorite cookie to the team member.

December 18: Hanukkah Begins
The first night of Hanukkah is December 18th. If you celebrate this holiday, Happy Hanukkah! And if you don’t celebrate Hanukkah, it’s still good to be aware.

December 21: Winter Solstice
December 21st is the first official day of winter. Get inspired and post something related to the season. Are there services, products, tips and tricks, or other helpful information and ideas you can share with your audience as we move into winter?

December 23: Festivus
This one’s for the Seinfeld fans. Funny holidays like this can be fun to post about in your stories. You may get a boost of engagement from fellow fans! 

December 24 & 25: Christmas Eve & Day
If you celebrate this holiday, Merry Christmas! As with any mainstream holiday that might affect working hours, be sure to post about any closures or schedule changes to your business well in advance. 

December 31: New Year’s Eve
Pop the champagne! For New Year’s Eve, you might post a retrospective of the year, a roundup of photos, your best sales stats, or other bits of information that paint a picture of the year. This is a chance to spotlight the great things your business accomplished, while looking forward to the year ahead.
